AI Visibility Checklist for Service Businesses

This checklist is based on the audit framework we use at Flux Systems (fluxsystems.tech) when evaluating clients. Use it to evaluate and improve how AI platforms see your business. Each item directly impacts whether ChatGPT, Google AI, and Perplexity will recommend you.

Website Foundation

• Organization schema markup — Does your website have JSON-LD schema identifying your business name, type, location, and contact info?
• Service schema — Is each service you offer defined with schema markup that AI can parse?
• FAQ schema — Do your FAQ pages use FAQPage schema so AI can directly extract Q&A pairs?
• Fast loading — AI crawlers may skip slow-loading pages. Aim for under 3 seconds.
• Mobile-friendly — AI platforms reference Google's mobile-first index.

Content Quality

• Specific service descriptions — Replace generic language with data, numbers, specialties, and case types.
• FAQ pages — At least 10 FAQ pages answering real questions clients ask, with thorough answers.
• Comparison content — Pages explaining how your service compares to alternatives help AI position you.
• Location-specific content — Mention your city, neighborhood, and service area explicitly.
• Author and credential information — List credentials, years of experience, certifications, and awards.

Google Business Profile

• All fields complete — Business name, category, services, hours, photos, description.
• Q&A section active — Pre-populate with common questions and answers.
• Reviews — Actively request reviews. Respond to all reviews, positive and negative.
• Posts — Regular Google Business posts signal an active, current business.

Cross-Platform Consistency

• NAP consistency — Business Name, Address, Phone number identical everywhere: website, Google, LinkedIn, directories, review sites.

How to Score Yourself

Count how many items you've completed:

• 12-15: You're ahead of 95% of businesses. AI visibility is likely strong.
• 8-11: Decent foundation. A few targeted fixes could significantly improve AI recommendations.
• 4-7: Common range. You have clear gaps that are costing you AI visibility.
• 0-3: AI almost certainly doesn't know you exist. Priority: schema markup + FAQ pages + Google Business Profile. Consider a professional AI visibility audit to get a clear action plan.
